Group photos do not always look the best but they do symbolize everyone being together and on the same team.
While Josh Freeman may no longer be a captain on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers his absence from the photo is telling. Even if the Buccaneers quarterback says he missed the photo because he overslept.
“Basically I overslept,” Freeman explained to NFL.com. “Point blank.”
The quarterback then went on to defend Vincent Jackson being chosen as a team captain over him.
“I think Vincent Jackson deserves every bit of the captain spot,” Freeman said. “I feel like the talk about me not being a captain kind of takes away from the honor of those guys being captains. Do I want to be captain? Yeah, sure. But it’s not something that’s going to make or break anyone.”
In addition to Freeman losing his captain spot after three years, Tampa Bay drafted quarter Mike Glennon in the third round of this years draft. Unless Freeman is unable to orchestrate a win on Sunday his time under center may be over.
