The Dallas Cowboys added guard Brian Waters on Tuesday on a one-year deal worth $3 million.

Dallas and Waters appeared on their way to working out a deal in early August but the Cowboys moved on believing that Waters was done with football.

The 36-year-old Waters will not be active for Sunday’s season opener but figures to work his way into the role as starting right guard by Week 2 or 3. Doug Free will work the position against New York on Sunday to open the season.
