Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III will start the season opener for the Washington Redskins.

Griffin will start under center for the Redskins opener on Sept. 9 against NFC East rival Philadelphia.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter is one of many reporting the information that the Redskins have said all preseason.

This is hardly news as nearly everyone had penned the 23-year-old to be in the starting lineup for the Redskins.

Griffin will visit Dr. James Andrews on Thursday for a final check up and to get medical clearance. Andrews had previously cleared Griffin before training camp and will simply examine the quarterbacks knee again.
