Cardinals may keep just two quarterbacks on roster

Ryan Lindley made up a quartet of quarterbacks who took the field for the Arizona Cardinals during the 2012 season. None of the quarterbacks fared all-too-well but one managed to stay on the roster entering training camp.

While Brian Hoyer is in Cleveland, Kevin Kolb is in Buffalo and John Skelton is in Cincinnati the Cardinals kept around Lindley.

How long Lindley lasts is unknown as new Cardinals coach Bruce Arians brought in two new gunslingers. Carson Palmer is unquestionably the starter in Arizona and no one would argue that Drew Stanton is the backup.

That leaves Lindley third on the depth chart which does not guarantee him a spot on the Cardinals 53-man roster.

“If it comes down to Ryan and another guy at another position, we’ll determine what’s more valuable to our football team at that time,” Arians said, via AZCardinals.com. “We’re going to keep the best 53.”

In his rookie season Lindley completed just 52 percent of his passes for 752 yards, throwing seven interceptions while failing to find the endzone in six games.
