When the San Francisco 49ers open training camp next week they will do so with running back Marcus Lattimore on the active/non-football injury list.
The decision by the 49ers will allow the team to activate him at any time prior to final cuts but the former South Carolina running back is expected to miss most – if not all – of his rookie season.
Lattimore suffered an awful knee injury last year while at South Carolina.
Lattimore, 21, amassed 3,444 yards from scrimmage and 41 touchdowns in three seasons with the Gamecocks. He could have returned to South Carolina but opted to forgo his senior season and was selected in the fourth round of the NFL Draft.
