The New England Patriots have re-signed wide receiver Julian Edelman to a one-year contract.
Edelman took some early season snaps away from Wes Welker last year before suffering a hand injury in week three. On the year the 26-year-old had 21 catches for 235 yards and three touchdowns. He was also used as a punt returner for the team running a kick back and averaging 15.5 yards per return.
The Patriots figure to have Edelman no higher then third on the depth chart behind Danny Amendola and Donalds Jones.
New England also has an offer sheet out to Emmanuel Sanders which Pittsburgh has five days to match. Needless to say the Patriots have turned the page from last years wide receiving core of Wes Welker and Brandon Lloyd.
