Brian Westbook is experiencing memory loss which he believes was caused by on field concussions. Westbrook, 33, says he forgets names, facts and has trouble retaining new information.

Westbrook suffered a concussion in 2009. Three games later he returned to the field and suffered another.

“Hopefully, they won’t continue to progress,” Westbrook said about his symptoms.

Now Westbrook has joined other former athletes in speaking about the effects of concussions. He recently spoke at the “Concussion Conundrum” Friday at Villanova University. The program was part of the Jeffrey S. Moorad Sports Law Journal Symposium.

Westbrook officially retired before the 2012 season. In his career he amassed 10,275 yards from scrimmage and 71 touchdowns
