Browns: Premature to name Weeden QB for 2013

Brandon Weeden is not getting a lot of support from his coaching staff or general manager. The 2012 first-round pick is not assured of starting for the team next season.

Mike Lombardi, the newly hired VP of Player Personnel, was critical of the Browns drafting Weeden in 2012 calling it a “panicked disaster.”

Coach Rob Chudzinski is not ready to commit to starting Weeden in 2013.  Chudzinksi said it would be “premature” to name Weeden the quarterback for next season.

Newly hired offensive coordinator Norv Turner did not have much to say about Weeden either though did mention that he has “the skill set we’re looking for. He does have a big arm.”

As a rookie last season, Weeden had ups and downs. He passed for 3,385 yards with 14 touchdowns and 17 interceptions.

The Browns have two other quarterbacks on the roster in Colt McCoy and Thaddeus Lewis.
