Terrelle Pryor to make first NFL start for Raiders

Raiders head coach Dennis Allen has named Terrelle Pryor the teams quarterback for their Week 17 game against San Diego. Matt Leinart will serve as his backup.

“I’ve decided to go with Terrelle Pryor as our quarterback,’’ Allen said Friday following practice, via Inside the Bay Area. “He’ll play in the game and we’ll see how the game goes. He’s the starter, and we’re going to go into it as we would any other game.’’

Pryor has totaled eight offensive plays in his two year career with the Raiders and reports earlier this season suggested he was miles away from being an NFL ready QB. Though considering Leinart is not expected to return to the Raiders it is hard to fault Allen from seeing what he has in Pryor.

The Chargers defense is rated 18th against the pass and 4th against the run.
