The Carolina Panthers will play against the San Diego Chargers on Sunday. Scheduled for a 4:05 pm EST kickoff this game will air on FOX from Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego.

Both teams could look quite different next season. Reports suggest that Chargers coach Norv Turner is set to be fired along with general manager AJ Smith. The Panthers have already made a move to replace their general manager but head coach Ron Rivera is likely the next man out the door.

What is the point spread in the Panthers and Chargers game? The Chargers are 3 point favorites against the Panthers. The over/under is set at 45 points.

San Diego pulled off a win in Pittsburgh last week but would need to win their remaining three games to finish .500 this season. The Chargers have not made the playoffs since 2009 and with an aging group of players are in need of an overhaul.

Turner has suggested that running back Ryan Matthews could get a career high in touches this weekend. Matthews has not had the type of season the Chargers had hoped so how effective those touches will be remains to be seen. Philip Rivers is second in the NFL as he has been sacked 37 times. Rivers had a nice performance last week against Pittsburgh but they have been few and far between this season.

Big things were expected from Carolina after Cam Newton’s stellar rookie season. Carolina is 4-9 and tied for the NFC’s worst record but have seven losses by six points or fewer.

Newton started the season off sluggish and even offered up a suggestion box. Over the past six games, the second-year quarterback has completed 60 percent of his passes for 1519 yards. Steve Smith needs one yard to reach 1,000 on the season.
