Bears place Robbie Gould on IR, sign Olindo Mare

The Chicago Bears have placed kicker Robbie Gould on injured reserve, ending his season. Gould pulled his hamstring during warmups on Sunday. He made two point after attempts in Sunday’s loss to Minnesota.

Gould will finish the season 21-of-25 with two of them being from 50-plus. His contract for next season is worth $2.325 million. Before his injury, Gould had recorded 38 touchbacks on kickoffs, sixth most in the NFL. Opponents average field position following kickoffs from Gould was the 19.8 yard line, best int he NFL.

To fill his spot on the roster the Bears signed Olindo Mare. Mare participated in a workout with fellow kickers Neil Rackers and Billy Cundiff earlier on Tuesday.

Mare last played as a member of the Carolina Panthers in 2011 where he was 22-of-28 on attempts. The 39-year-old Mare has been in the NFL since 1997.
