San Diego Chargers at Pittsburgh Steelers point spread, line and odds

Norv Turner may be out at the end of the season but the San Diego Chargers will have him on the sidelines Sunday when they travel to Pittsburgh. The Steelers pulled off a stunning win last week in Baltimore with third-sting quarterback Charlie Batch but this weekend they will welcome back Ben Roethilisberger.

The Chargers continue to disappoint. Despite a defense in the top half of points allowed, 21.4, the team finds itself playing out the string. Gone are the days where Phillip Rivers was a convincing top tier quarterback and Ryan Matthews no longer seems like the best option at running back.

Pittsburgh is sixth in points allowed at 19.2 points per game and they are the top ranked team against the pass. Their run defense is not too shabby either at fifth best. The Steelers offensive numbers are not impressive but its worth considering they have played without Roethlisberger the last few weekends.

So whats the spread in the Chargers and Steelers game? The Steelers are 7.5 point favorites against the Chargers. The over/under for the game is down to 39.5 points after opening at 43.

Prediction: We like Pittsburgh to win this game with ease but are not convinced it will be a blowout on the score board. With a returning Roethlisberger it will be interesting to see how hard the Steelers press the pedal on Sunday offensively.
