With a number of NFL teams needing wide receivers it is surprising that Chad Johnson has not gotten so much as a phone call. Speaking on ESPN’s First Take the soon to be 35 year old took some responsibility for his fading football career.
“I messed up. I messed up,” said Johnson. “Period. I lost everything. Football, my wife, the family I had, over something that didn’t really mean anything.” On Aug. 11 Johnson allegedly headbutted his then wife Evelyn Lozada during an argument. Three days later she filed for divorce. Their divorce was finalized in September.
Saying he was “humbled” but vowed to play again. He also made a plea for a potential job next season, seeming to understand that its too late in the season to sign with a team this year.
