Colin Kaepernick expected to start for 49ers against Saints

The San Francisco 49ers will likely employ Colin Kaepernick as the teams quarterback on Sunday. Kaepernick impressed in Monday nights game against the Chicago Bears and all signs point to him being under center again this weekend against New Orleans.

Kaepernick completed 16 of 23 passes for 243 yards and two touchdowns against the Bears on Monday. During the week he has been given the first team reps which would seem to suggest that he will start over Alex Smith.

Smith had been the 49ers starting quarterback for the teams first nine games but he suffered a concussion on Nov. 11 against St. Louis.

Before Monday nights game, Kaepernick had played mainly out of the wildcat formation. The second year player was drafted as a developmental quarterback by the 49ers in the 2011 draft.
