Could Vick be gone if Eagles miss playoffs?

Michael Vick is the quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles right now. Barring some unforeseen injury Vick should remain that way for the rest of the season. Head coach Andy Reid is feeling the hot seat. Both Vick and Reid need an Eagles appearance in the playoffs. While Reid could simply take Vick out of the lineup he knows that his job is tied to the talented but inconsistent Vick.

Nick Foles may have looked great in a preseason game but the Eagles are not turning to him during the regular season. Reid knows throwing a rookie quarterback into the mix with the season halfway over is not going to work for this team.

The Eagles need to make the playoffs for the future of Vick and Reid.

Multiple rumblings around the league have suggested that Vick will be gone if the Eagles fail to make the playoffs. The latest being ESPN’s Adam Schefter saying league sources have told him that if quarterback Michael Vick doesn’t lead the Eagles to the playoff this season

What is new? Andy Reid will likely be gone too.

A new coach, a new quarterback in 2013. That is the reality of most football teams. The next Eagles coach may not want Vick to be his quarterback. Vick has been a turnover machine this season and ball control is something that the Eagles will focus on. Keeping around an inconsistent quarterback is not at the top of the list for any coach, especially when the next talent is just a draft away.
