Chuck Pagano sends e-mail to Colts players and fans

Indianapolis Colts Coach Chuck Pagano was diagnosed with Leukemia and is on administrative leave while he is going through treatment. He sent an e-mail to his players this week that interim Bruce Arians read to the team today before the start of the game versus the Green Bay Packers.

“Very private,” Arians told the Indianapolis Star of the message. “He sent it to every player. Very long… When you read it by yourself, it’s very emotional. I don’t know if I can get it out to the team…”

Here is what the Colts released on NFL.com:

“My condition will not determine my position. I understand the condition but choose to focus on my position. That is to stay positive and SERVE.

“WE WILL, WE CAN, WE MUST. WE HAVE NO CHOICE. BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY. WE WILL OVERCOME.

“IT’S ALL IN THE PROPER STATE OF MIND.”

Pagano also sent out a letter to fans:

Dear Colts Fans,

On behalf of the Pagano family, we want to say thank you for all the love and support that you have shown.

All the cards, gifts, emails, success stories and prayers that we have been showered with give us a tremendous amount of peace and strength.

We could not get through this without you.

Colts receiver Reggie Wayne went and visited Pagano in the hospital on Tuesday and said the coach was in good spirits.

“I sat with him a little while,” Wayne said. “He’s doing good, man. I was kind of surprised how good he was. He’s the same. He was joking. He’s looking at it straight in the eyes. He understands what’s going on. He understands the tough task ahead of him. If there’s somebody that can go in and hit this out of the ballpark, it’s him.”
