The San Diego Padres have signed Xavier Nady to a minor league deal.
Nady, 35, was a second round pick of the Padres back in 2000 and spent the first four years of his MLB career with the team. Last season he played at Triple-A for both Kansas City and Colorado.
As part of the deal Nady will be invited to spring training. His signing is a relatively low-risk which could add depth to the bench or minor leagues.
