The New York Yankees activated left hander Andy Pettitte from the 15-day disabled list on Monday. Pettitte will start for the Yankees against the Cleveland Indians.
Sidelined since May 16 with a strained trapezius muscle the Yankees will hope that Pettitte can snap a two game losing streak. The Yankees have lost seven of ten overall.
On the season Pettitte holds a 3.83 ERA and a 1.30 WHIP in eight starts.
In order to make room for Pettitte the Yankees optioned outfielder Brennan Boesch to Triple-A. Boesch was hitting .275/.302/.529 with three home runs and eight RBI in 53 plate appearances.
