White Sox DFA Volstad, call up Danish and Vieira

The White Sox have designed reliever Chris Volstad for assignment.

Volstad, 31, had pitched in each of the last two games against the Angels but had been pelted to the tune of 8 earned runs in three innings of work. For the season he holds a unsavory 6.27 ERA in 47 1/3 innings of work.

After clearning waivers, Volstad can elect to become a free agent.

With Volstad gone the White Sox opted to call up both Tyler Danish and Thyago Vieira from Triple-A Charlotte.

Danish held a 3.06 ERA in 64 2/3 innings for the Triple-A Knights while Vieira posted a 5.05 ERA ERA.

On Thursday the team traded Joakim Soria to the Brewers.

Brewers stacked with former White Sox

For fans playing at home, the Brewers now have several players who played on the White Sox over the last three years to include Soria, Tyler Saladino,  Matt Albers (DL), and Dan Jennings.

Additionally, last year the Brewers also pulled off a trade to acquire Anthony Swarzak.
