Reds lose top prospect Nick Senzel for season

The top prospect in the Reds organization will undergo season-ending surgery to repair a torn tendon on his right index finger.

After dealing with vertigo early in the season, Senzel had really gotten hot of late before suffering the injury on Friday night. In 19 June games, Senzel was hitting .387 with a .434 on-base percentage including nine multi-hit games since June 9th.

Senzel, 22, will end the season hitting .310/.378/.509 with six homers, 25 RBI and eight stolen bases across 44 games.

If there is a silver lining it’s that Senzel could be available for either fall or winter ball.
