The Astros are not the only team who are interesting in Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander.
According to MLB Network’s Jon Morosi, the “trade interest in Justin Verlander has increased this week.”
Teams have until Aug 31 to work out a waiver deal and apparently the recent success of the right hander has made teams more willing to consider his contract. Since July 8 he has pitched well posting a 2.38 ERA and a 75/19 K/BB ratio in 10 starts.
Verlander is owed $28 million in each of the next two seasons with a $22 million vesting option for 2020.
Thus far no one outside of the Astros has been connected to Verlander by name. Stay turned.
