The Minnesota Twins have bolstered their rotation prior to the MLB Trade deadline acquiring left handed pitcher Jaime Garcia. In exchange for Garcia the Twins will send a minor leaguer to the Braves.

Garcia, 31, has had an up and down season for the Braves posting a 3-7 record to go with a 4.33 ERA and a 1.33 WHIP. He has pitched 106 innings this season after totaling 171 2/3 a year ago with the St. Louis Cardinals.

The Braves added Garcia and R.A. Dickey, another name likely to be moved prior to the end of July, along with the already released Bartolo Colon this season as they opened Sun Trust Park. Ironically the Twins picked up Colon following his release from the Braves. He struggled in his first start for the team and has hinted he may retire.

The plan for Garcia had always been to build trade value and trade him prior to the deadline. His contract expires at the end of the season. In order to get Garica the Braves dealt Luke Dykstra, Chris Ellis, and John Gant.

Aaron Blair has been scratched from his minor league start and will likely pitch in place of Garcia tomorrow night for the Braves who are currently on the road playing the Los Angeles Dodgers.
