Mariners sign Carlos Quentin to minor league deal
The Seattle Mariners have signed Carlos Quentin.
Quentin, 32, was sent to the Atlanta Braves in a trade that also saw Craig Kimbrel and Melvin Upton go to the San Diego Padres. The Braves never had a desire to keep Quentin on the roster and are paying him upwards of $8 million.
Known for having a potent bat when healthy, Quenin has struggled to appear on the field the last three seasons. He has not played in more than 100 games since the 2011 season.
