Kluber will be locked up by the Indians though 2019. He is slated to start the Indians opening day game against the Houston Astros.
Kluber, 28, would have been arbitration eligible for the first time next winter. He will now trade in his arbitration years for guaranteed money. He finished last season 18-9 with a 2.44 ERA and a 1.10 WHIP over 34 starts.
The Indians may not be done locking up their rotation pieces. Carlos Carrasco and the Indians are also in talks on the feels of his breakout season that saw him pot a 2.55 ERA and a 140/29 K/BB ratio over 134 innings.
