After turning down a six year offer from the Tigers during the season, free agent pitcher Max Scherzer reportedly has been contacted by teams about seven year deals.

Scherzer’s agent Scott Boras would love to get his client even more than the $144 million that was offered by the Tigers in season.

While it is surprising that Scherzer has had to wait so long to get a deal, it looks like one my finally be coming to fruition with the Nationals and others in contact according to CBS Sports’ Jon Heyman.

Scherzer won the Cy Young in 2013 and finished last season with an 18-5 record to go with a 3.15 ERA and a 1.18 WHIP across 33 starts. The Tigers cannot be ruled out from re-signing Scherzer.
