The Orioles have avoided arbitration with catcher Matt Wieters and first baseman Chris Davis.
Wieters, 28, will earn $8.3 million during the 2015 season before hitting free agency. The Orioles have held out hope that they can reach a long term deal with him but the two sides are still quite away from a deal after Wieters missed most of 2014 while undergoing Tommy John surgery.
Wieters appeared in just 26 games last season hitting .308/.339/.500 with five home runs. He is still not assured of being ready for Opening Day.
The Orioles also avoided arbitration with Davis as the two agreed on a $12 million deal.
Davis wants to improve upon a .196/.300/.404 line with 26 home runs and 72 RBI across 127 games.
The Orioles had to finish the season without Davis as he was suspend for using Adderall. He will miss Opening Day for the last game of his suspension but they should be good to go.
Back in 2013 Davis hit a whopping 53 home runs and a 1.004 OPS numbers which the Orioles will want him to approach in 2015.
