The Orioles remain interested in Phillies outfielder Marlon Byrd. They however are not as interested in first baseman Ryan Howard who the Phillies offered in a package for Byrd reports MASN.

Howard still possesses some power in his swing with 23 home runs last season but produced juast a .223/.310/.380 line wit 190 strike outs across 152 games last season.

Owed $50 million over the next two seasons (with a $10 million buyout in 2017) the Phillies would love to unload the now 35-year-old.

After parting with Jimmy Rollins and with pitcher Cole Hamels on the trading block the Phillies are looking to blow things up heading into the 2015 season. Clearing Howard’s salary off the books would be a big step.

Howard can block a trade to 20 teams but will not get 10-and-5 rights until May.
