The Yankes have acquired shortstop Didi Gregorius from the Diamondbacks.

Gregorius, 24, will immediately be tasked with taking over a position manned by Derek Jeter for the past two decades. It’s a tall order for Gregorius who owns a career .243/.313/.366 line with 13 home runs and three stolen bases in 191 career games.

Brendan Ryan will now move down on the depth chart to back up Gregorius and second baseman Martin Prado.

IAs part of the deal the Yankees will send pitcher Shane Greene to the Tigers. In 15 games including 14 starts the now 26-year-old Greene was 5-4 with  3.78 ERA and a 1.40 WHIP.

Reliever Robbie Ray and infield prospect Domingo Leyba.

While the Tigers are said to like the bat of the 19-year-old Leyba he has become expendable within an organization that currently has a surplus of infielders.  Also heading out west is pitcher Robbie Ray.

Ray, 22, was 1-5 with a 816 RA and a 1.88 WHIP in nine games, including six starts, for the Tigers in 2014.
