The Athletics are close to dealing starting pitcher Jeff Samardzija.
According to Susan Van Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle the Athletics would receive several piece in return most likely of the offensive nature.
Acquired in a mid-season trade from the Cubs, the 29-year old right hander finished the 2014 seaosn with 2.99 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 202/43 K/BB ratio over 219 2/3 innings. He is set to become a free agent at the end of the 2015 season.
Update: Just as soon as this report came out Fox Sports Ken Rosenthal said that the trade the A’s were working on did not include Samardzija.
