Report: Cubs offered Jon Lester six-year deal worth $135 million

Could Jon Lester end up pitching in the windy city of Chicago?

According to David Kaplan of CSNChicago.com the Cubs give the free agent left hander a six-year contract offer for more than $135 million.

If that deal is true, the Cubs offer far our distances the $110-120 million the Red Sox are said to have offered.

There are other teams who have shown interest to include the Braves, Giants and Cardinals but exactly how high any of these teams can afford to go remain to be seen.

With the Giants missing out on re-signing Pablo Sandoval they are now considered a legit contender for the services of Lester. The Braves on the other hand have deemed themselves as long-shots.

The 30-year-old Lester made 32 starts last season between the Red Sox and Athletics going 16-11 with a 2.46 ERA and a 1.10 WHIP.
