Mike Matheny gives up No. 22 to newly acquired Jason Heyward

Jason Heyward will continue to wear the No. 22 when he takes the field for the Cardinals in 2015.

After wearing the number for his full tenure with the Braves, Heyward was traded along with reliever Jordan Walden to the Cardinals.

Saturday Heyward announced via twitter that he would continue to wear the number which had been worn by Cardinals manager Mike Matheny.

Heyward has worn the No. 22 to honor his former friend Andy Wilmot who died in an auto accident.

Matheny will now wear the No. 44 which had been worn by Carlos Martinez. In turn Martinez will now wear No. 18 in honor of Oscar Taveras.

Now that that has all been cleared up, we envision this post getting more views during spring training when people notice the change on their television.
