The only chance on the Cincinnati Reds coach staff will be their third base coach.

Jim Riggleman has been promoted to the position replacing Steve Smith. The Reds suffered 86 losses in 2014, their most since 2008.

Riggleman joined the Reds in 2012 as a manager of their Double-A affiliate. He moved up to the Triple-A level the last two seasons and now returns to the big leagues.

The 62-year-old Riggleman has been a coach or manager in the majors since 1981. He managed the San Diego Padres from 1992-94, the Chicago Cubs from 1995-99, the Seattle Mariners in 2008 and the Washington Nationals from 2009-11.

The Reds currently have Bryan Price entering his season season as their manager. Price took over when the team fired Dusty Baker after making the playoffs three times in four years.
