The San Diego Padres have sent relief pitcher Troy Patton outright to Triple-A El Paso.
Patton, 29, was designated for assignment earlier this week but passes though waivers unclaimed and remains with the Padres.
Patton appeared in eight games for the Padres posting a 2.45 ERA and a 1.09 WHIP after being picked up from Baltimore for catcher Nick Nundley.
A former prospect out of the Houston Astros farm system, Patton has carved out a nice nitche as a reliever in recent seasons.
