The Los Angeles Dodgers have dropped outfielder Yasiel Puig to the sixth spot in the lineup ahead of Monday’s game against the Washington Nationals.
Puig has never batted lower than fifth in a start but manager Don Mattingly is trying to shake things up after the 23-year-old struggled throughout August.
Puig’s overall season numbers remain strong but he is coming off an August in which he hit just .216/.296/.247 without a home run and just three extra base hits in 97 at-bats. His four RBI for the month were a far cry from the 25 he had in May.
