The Houston Astors failed to sign the first overall pick in Brady Aiken after selecting the left-hander in June.
Concerns over his elbow in a pre-signing physical caused the Astros to lower his signing bonus and for a deal between the two to fall though.
The Astros also failed to sign fifth-round pick Jacob Nix who has a grievance hearing scheduled. Reports across the web circulated suggesting that the Astros were attempted to lower the bonus paid to Aiken in order to get Nix signed.
Kiley McDaniel of FanGraphs has heard what we have heard, that Aiken and even Nix could still wind up with the Astros as late signings.
The expectation from those close to the negotiation is that Brady Aiken will end up making a deal with the Astros around the Nix hearing.

Of course any such deals would have to be approved by Major League Baseball. It is unclear if MLB would approve such deals since it would be an unprecedented situation.
