On Tuesday the Miami Marlins designated pitcher Jacob Turner for assignment.
The 23-year-old Turner had struggled this season posting a 5.97 ERA in 12 starts and eight relief appearances for the Marlins. It was quite a bit off of the 3.74 ERA he posted across 20 starts last season.
Turner was a key part of a trade that sent Anibal Sanchez to the Detroit Tigers and given his former high prospect status and 2013 results someone will take a chance on him.
Taking Turner’s roster spot is left hander Brian Flynn who gets the call from Triple-A New Orleans.
In 21 starts for Triple-A this season the 24-year-old Flynn owns a 4.00 ERA.
