With a July 31 opt out date looming, the Miami Marlins still want to see what pitcher Brad Penny has before calling him up to the majors.

Penny, 36, is expected to make at least two more starts for Triple-A New Orleans before the Marlins even consider promoting him reports the Miami Herald.

In his most recent start for High-A Jupiter the veteran allowed two runs over six innings.

Penny last pitched at the major league level in 2012 making 22 relief apperances for the San Francisco Giants.
