The Miami Marlins are not saying that second baseman Rafael Furcal is done for the season but they are calling his injury significant.

Furcal very well will miss the rest of the season after straining his hamstring. The Florida Sun Sentinel reports that he tore part of the hamstring muscle behind his knee according to general manger Dan Jennings.

“He’s done for quite a bit of time,” manager Mike Redmond said. “I’m not sure how long. … It’s a significant amount of time.”

Furcal played a total of nine games this season collecting six hits in 35 at-bats. He was signed to a one-year deal worth $3.5 million in the offseason.
