Red Sox add Andres Torres on minor league deal

The Boston Red Sox added some depth to their outfield on Wednesday by signing free agent Andres Torres to a minor league deal.

Last August the now 36-year-old Torres underwent surgery to remove bone spurs from his left Achilles.

In parts of nine big league seasons the veteran holds a .242/.317/.382 batting line and is capable of playing all three outfield positions. Torres quickly could become an option for the Red Sox outfield which has gotten little to nothing out of Grady Sizemore or Jackie Bradley Jr.
