The Baltimore Orioles are hopeful that they will be able to keep left handed pitcher Johan Santana from opting out of his deal.
Santana can opt out of his deal after midnight on Monday if arrangements are not met with the team. The Orioles would like the 35-year-old to push his opt out date back a month so they could see him in action against minor league competition. He had previously been pitching in extended spring training.
#Orioles still working to keep Johan Santana. "I think we'll be able to work something out," Duquette said. Have until midnight tonight.

If all goes right, the Orioles could have Santana as an option come July. It remains to be seen what the pitchers plans are just yet.
Santana has not pitched at the big league level since 2012.
