The Boston Red Sox would like to lock up pitcher Jon Lester this season.

Red Sox president Larry Lucchino told WEEI on Thursday that he expects the team to reopen negotiations with Lester during the season. Lester is reported to have turned down a four-year extension worth $80 million in the spring.

Lester wants to be paid like an ace meaning he envisions a contract in excess of $100 million.

Over his first 73 innings this season Lester has a 3.45 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 83/21 K/BB ratio.
