The Texas Rangers will finish the 2014 season without Prince Fielder.
Fielder is scheduled to undergo fusion surgery next Tuesday. He is expected to miss the net three to four months which should all but end his season.
Recommendation for Prince Fielder is cervical fusion. Recovery is typcially three to four months. Surgery is tentatively set for Tuesday.

Acquired in the offseason in a trade with the Detroit Tigers, Fielder struggled in his first season with the Rangers hitting .247/.360/.360 with three home runs and 16 RBI in 42 games.
The Rangers have Fielder under contract though 2020 with a cost of $144 million.
Another player the Rangers will be without for a while is infielder Jurickson Profar. The Rangers have shut down Profar after he aggravated the teres major muscle in his right shoulder.
Profar is expected to be out another eight to twelve weeks. A season ago Profar hit .234 in 85 games with the Rangers. He has yet to play this season.
