The New York Yankees will not be counting on left hander C.C. Sabathia anytime soon.

General manager Brian Cashman told Joel Sherman of the New York Post that the knee of Sabathia will keep him sidelined until “at least July.”

“It’s an unpredictable time frame,” Cashman said. “I’d say you’re talking at least six weeks until you see him on a major league mound again.”

Sabathia was ineffective when in the rotation this year posting a 5.28 ERA and 1.48 WHIP through 46 innings this year.

While visiting James Andrews last week, Sabathia received a stem-cell injection into his knee. Sabathia has been on crutches since.

Chase Whitley filled in for Sabathia last Thursday throwing 4 2/3 scoreless innings. Michael Pineda is reportedly three weeks away from returning to the Yankees rotation.
