Phillies bring back veteran pitcher Shawn Camp

The Philadelphia Phillies have re-signed veteran pitcher Shawn Camp to a minor league deal.

Camp, 38, has been assigned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Just over a week ago the Phillies outrighted Camp off their 40-man roster but he will stay around with the organization.

Camp appeared in three games at the big league level this season posting allowing two runs in 3 1/3 innings of work.

It may be hard to believe but Camp has actually been around the majors for 11 years now. He has always been an up and down pitcher. In 2012 he had a 3.59 ERA in 80 games for the Chicago Cubs but followed that up with a 7.04 ERA in 26 games in 2013 earning himself a July release.

Camp elected free agency on May 9 after being outrighted off the Phillies’ 40-man roster but is now back in the organization. He had allowed seven hits and two earned runs in 3 1/3 innings this season with Phill
