On Friday the Kansas City Royals designated outfielder Justin Maxwell for assignment.

Maxwell was hitting just .138/.219/.172 with no homers over his first 32 plate appearances this season before his release. He has the ability to play all three outfield spots.

Maxwell is a career .225/.312/.420 hitter with 34 home runs and 106 RBI in 337 games.

Someone will give the 30-year-old another shot but he may have to prove himself in the minor leagues first.

And of course the twitter trolls are already out dogging on Maxwell.
