The Tampa Bay Rays have placed second baseman Ben Zobrist on the 15-day disabled list with a dislocated thumb.
Zobrist hurt his left thumb sliding head-first into second base during Wednesday’s game.
Currently it is unknown how long Zobrist will be absent from the Rays lineup. The Rays will be left with Sean Rodriguez, Logan Forsythe and Cole Figueroa at second base with Zobrist out.
Zobrist is hitting .260/.352/.364 with three home runs and 24 runs scored in 40 games this season.
