Braves to keep Gavin Floyd in rotation

Gavin Floyd allowed just one run over seven innings of work in his season debut on Tuesday. The Braves liked what they saw in Floyd and will keep him in their rotation going forward.

Of course Floyd remaining in the Braves rotation means that someone will be coming out.

“I don’t want to go six-man rotation,” Fredi Gonzalez said via the Atlanta Journal Constitution. “I don’t think it works. I don’t think it’s good. But (Floyd) is one guy that would not go to the bullpen, I don’t think, just because of the Tommy John. We all know how the bullpen thing is. You get up. You get down. You go in. You got to warm up in 15 (pitches), and I don’t want to do that to him.”

While Gonzalez did not drop any names as to who would be coming out of the rotation the most likely answer would be Alex Wood. By shifting Wood to their bullpen the Braves could find a way to limit his number of innings this season.
