The Colorado Rockies added a pair of pitchers on minor league deals on Friday. Right handed pitchers Raael Betancourt and Simon Castro were signed by the team.
Betancourt had been working out with the Rockies for sometime since undergoing Tommy John surgery. He will remain at the Rockies spring training facility for a while before he starts a rehab assignment. Betancourt and the Rockies hope he will be able to return to the major leagues by the end of the regular season.
In 635 career games Betancourt owns a 3.19 ERA and a 1.09 WHIP.
The addition of Castro by the Rockies is merely to fill out their minor leagues. He appeared in four big league games for the Chicago White Sox a season ago but spent most of the year at Triple-A posting a 5.83 ERA and a 1.41 WHIP.
