The Miami Marlins are expected to activate second baseman Rafael Furcal from the disabled list in the next week.

“He’ll play tomorrow (for Double-A Jacksonville on his rehab assignment),” Marlins manager Mike Redmond said prior to Wednesday’s game. “I think the plan for him, as of right now, is to be there for a week.”

Once Furcal is activated he will take over the second base spot fulltime sending Derek Dietrih and Donovan Solano to the bench and/or minor leagues.

In Wednesday’s game Marlins reliever Carlos Marmol left with a right hamstring strain.

Marmol injured himself throwing a ball to Jason Heyward with two outs in the seventh inning. Currently the Marlins have him listed as day-to-day.

In 11 games this season Marmol owns a 4.00 ERA and a 1.33 WHIP. He owns a 10/7 K/BB ratio.

Prior to Wednesday’s game the Marlins recalled Carter Capps from Triple-A. Capps will assume the bullpen spot of Arquimedes Caminero. Capps has pitched 11 innings at Triple-A posting a 1.64 ERA and recording 17 strikeouts.
