The Oakland Athletics have signed pitcher Sean Doolittle to a four-year extension.

Officially the deal was listed as a five-year contract but it includes the current season which figure to come with a raise. It also include options for the 2019 and 2020 seasons.

Initially Doolittle was a first baseman but he converted to a relief pitcher prior to 2011.

Doolittle has a 7-6 record and 3.10 ERA with four saves in 122 career appearances out of the bullpen, allowing 100 hits and striking out 129 batters with a 0.99 WHIP in 125 innings. Especially of note was that Doolittle allowed just two of 32 inherited base runners to score last season.
